2011 Winter Awards Banquet

Message from the President and Council,

We are putting out a personal invitation to the MLA Winter Banquet. I know a lot of our members already know what a fantastic evening we always have at our banquet. And they would never miss it, but we have had a lot of new members join this year that might not be familiar with all that the night holds so............... here I go......

I believe we put on a great banquet. If you have never been or it has been a while I would recommend you check us out I promise you won't be disappointed. Last year we had a record number of 125 members attend the banquet. That is totally awesome. But I truly believe we can do better. We just need to inform our members. There is so many auction items brought in by our members. A lot of handmade items. Our members go above and beyond with the donations.

Then there is the Dessert Contest........... Have I ever told you how much I like desserts.......I know I have. Boy can our members Make desserts. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dessert they don't have to be homemade, but only the homemade ones will be considered in the judging... There will be cash prizes. Then there is the Arrow Contest........ Bring your best creation of three arrows. All the members present are able to vote for the arrows they like best... I will tell you members are truly artist when it comes to arrow building. New for 2011 we are introducing a Photo Contest.[the details are in STICKTALK] Only at the banquet will you be able to enter the Chili Contest that will be at the Spring Shoot. There will be cash prizes. Presentation can be considered in both these contest.

Then there is the Service to MLA Award that is another highlight of the evening. It is always a thrill to find out who the recipient will be. Then when I find out whom, I always say to myself they have always been a person of service in the MLA. And I usually always agree with the decision. Then there is the meal. Woodshire Always treats us like kings and queens. Their staff is always great to work with. And always accommodating.

Our Auction is second to none. Like I said before our members always go above and beyond with their donations.
We also boast about having one of the most famous auctioneers in Michigan in Ken Scollick. In closing this is not a night to be missed. We put a lot of time and effort into the evening so our members can truly have a very special banquet. I have said before this is everyone's MLA. Won't you please join me and your council at the banquet to make it the best ever.

Also if you are planning on going to the Great northern expo we are looking for help in the Kids shooting area also let Ken know if you can spare a couple hours especially Saturday.

2010 Winter Awards Banquet

This 'Arrow Bow', generously donated by Jim Reynolds, was won by Howard Sheridan at the Winter Awards Banquet Feb. 13, 2010

These axes were auctioned and raffled at the banquet.  The knife was presented.
